For advanced beginners and intermediate players looking for more conga drumming fun. We'll play rhythms from Cuba and Haiti, like yesa, conga de comparsa, and mahi. We'll also work on lead phrases and soloing tips.
The drums are calling you! Traditional rhythms from West Africa, played on djembes (goblet-shaped hand drums) and dununs (bass drums played with sticks), will be taught in a hands-on format. Students will learn to play a variety of rhythmic patterns and signals, which we will combine to create multi-part, drum ensemble music. Students will also learn basic hand and stick drumming techniques, fundamentals of rhythm, coordination and timekeeping skills. Beginners welcome. Instruments provided.
