Geoff leading the Samba Drummers during a Carnival Parade
I'll be playing and singing with Gina Sala for devotional chanting (kirtan) Friday, January 16, 8-10 pm at Samadhi Yoga, 1205 Pike in Seattle. Come chant with us. Gina plays harmonium and leads the singing in an easy, call-and-response style. Geoff plays tablas and other percussion. Help us create a powerful and transformative vibration. Suggested donation $10-$20, no one turned away.
Don't be a spectator in life. Join in the fun. Everyone can drum. It's easy. No experience necessary. We'll explore rhythm and drumming together in a supportive atmosphere. Bring your drums, bells and rattles, or use one of mine. Extra instruments will be available. All ages welcome, but young children will need adult supervision. Donations of $5-10 requested, but no one turned away for lack of money. Next Drum Circle will be Sunday, January 25th, at Vashon CoHousing. Call or email for details.

Discover the joys of drumming, dancing, and singing together in the global village. Get in touch with the primal beat of the drums. Let your body move to the irresistible groove. Let your voice be heard as we sing out in celebration of life.
At RhythmJoy, we make it happen. We provide instruction in traditional arts from around the world in a supportive community atmosphere. You can learn to play the West African djembe, dance the Brazilian samba, and sing the Balinese monkey chant.
We offer classes, workshops, artist-residencies, and more. We provide the instruments and the expertise. We have programs for all ages and abilities.
Traditional forms provide opportunities for everyone to participate. As they say in Africa, "If you can walk, you can dance; if you can talk, you can sing." I would add, "If you can clap your hands, you can play music."
In traditional cultures around the world, people gather to sing, dance, and play music. Everyone is included. There are simple steps and fun songs, simple rhythms with easy parts. There is also room to grow. There are more challenging dances, trickier rhythms, longer songs.
